Criles book is a detailed, cautionary tale. Nichols and Sorkins version isnt completely without reflection, but it mostly dodges the ugly in favor of personality. Bursting with star power, comes off as a smart comedy, economically written and briskly paced while making politics more fun than they have a right to be. Charlie Wilsons War dvd Nichols and Co.s foreign policy caper puts up a decent fight, but Hoffman wins the War. Highly entertaining — and mildly uncomfortable. Extremely enjoyable. Although it’s a little tonally unsure, whenever Hanks and Hoffman are on screen, any misgivings are forgiven. Smart, sophisticated and stylish, Charlie Wilsons War is a victory for thinking adults.
