Smoking and periodontal disease are interrelated. We all have heard how smoking is bad for your lungs and other systems of your body. Now recent studies in smoking and periodontal disease have shown conclusive evidence that smoking can cause periodontal disease thus it also presented that smoking is a major risk factor for the development and progression of periodontal and gum disease.
