Women during their menstrual period experiences gum disease. Why is that so? It is caused by hormonal changes during that certain period of time. These gum disease may be swelling of gums, mouth sores, canker sores and swollen salivary glands. It is very common that during pre-menstrual period women experience bleeding gums but it may go away before your period starts or not before it ends. During menstrual cycle your hormones are said to be active, and their is also and increase in blood flow in your blood streams that causes swollen gums. You can’t prevent hormonal changes but you can prevent gum disease by maintaining your regular and proper oral and dental hygiene b brushing your teeth and flossing regularly.
